Abstract

The author argues in favor of later school start times in U.S. high schools, discussing teenagers' circadian rhythms, schools starting at seven a.m., and student safety. Statistics on sleep deprivation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's 2011 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, public opinion on later start times, and early bus times are also discussed.
