Abstract
The article questions whether schools open too early for students. The author asserts that school start times are staggered to reduce transportation costs. He discusses the claims of proponents of later start times that students who have to wake up early do not get enough sleep. The author asserts that there is not enough evidence to link school start times and academic performance.
